Colonel Jason J. Jones

Colonel Jason J. Jones is a native of Uhrichsville, OH and graduate of Mount Union College in Alliance, OH.  He commissioned through ROTC into Field Artillery in May, 1995. COL Jones’ first assignment was with the 3rd BN, 82nd FAR, 1st CAV DIV, FT. Hood, TX where he served as a Company FSO, Platoon FDO, Firing Battery PL, and Battalion AS-3. 

In January 2000 COL Jones was assigned to the 18th Field Artillery Brigade (Airborne), Fort Bragg, NC serving as the Brigade Liaison Officer.  In May, he was assigned to 1st BN, 377th FAR (Air Assault) serving as the Battalion Liaison Officer, Battalion AS-3, and Commander of HHB.  In September 2002, he was selected to command HHB for 18th Field Artillery Brigade (Airborne).  In November 2003, he deployed in support of OIF with 1st BN, 319th AFAR as the Battalion FSO for 3rd BN, 505th PIR.

In June 2004, COL Jones was assigned to the Battle Command Training Program at FT. Leavenworth, KS as a Fire Support OC and Plans Officer.  In June 2008, he returned to FT. Bragg, NC and was assigned to 2nd BN, 321st AFAR, as the Battalion Operations Officer deploying in support of Operation Enduring Freedom X as the Battalion Executive Officer.  In June 2010, he served as the Brigade Operations Officer for 18th Fires Brigade. In July 2011 COL Jones was assigned to the Army Joint Support Team in Hurlburt Field, FL as a Joint Operations Command and Control Instructor.  He returned to 4th BCT to command 2nd BN, 321st AFAR. In July 2014 COL Jones moved to serve as the Senior Fire Support OC at JRTC in Fort Polk, LA and in June 2016, was assigned to US Central Command in Tampa, FL as the Deputy and Chief of Current Operations.         

COL Jones’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with OLC, DMSM, MSM with five OLC, ARCOM with two OLC, AAM with two OLC, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, GWOT Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Ribbon, NATO ISAF Medal, the Combat Action Badge, Ranger Tab, and the Senior Parachutist, and Air Assault Badges.

COL Jones’ military and civilian education includes a B.A. in Political Science and Pre-Law from Mount Union College in Alliance, OH and a Master’s of Business Administration from Webster University, St. Louis, MO.  He is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advance Courses, the Combined Arms Staff and Services School, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College.

COL Jones is married with children.
