Accomplishments:
As Pavements and Equipment Journeyman, assigned to the 773 Civil Engineer Squadron, SrA Ailiff maintained PACAF’s largest base and airdrome by expertly clearing 106” of snow spanning 270 events from 45M square feet of airfield pavements, 168 miles of roads and 185 parking lots. His efforts supported JBER’s $9.3B aircraft fleet, safeguarded 34K base commuters and directly contributed to the 773 CES winning the Balchen Post Award for Best Snow and Ice Control in the DOD. Additionally he was instrumental during summer paving operations, he laid 9.4K tons of asphalt and poured 221 cubic yards of concrete during 10 separate projects to repair JBER’s primary roads and gates, parking lots and airfield parking aprons. Finally, SrA Ailiff’s knowledge and expertise aided in the completion of 40 hours of joint RADR training for 60 Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) personnel further increasing their wartime mission capabilities and drastically reducing airfield repair times by 50% all while strengthening ties between the U.S. and one of its strongest allies.
