JBER BASH program soars
Nov. 7, 2018 - On Sept. 22, 1995, an E-3B Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System, call sign Yukla 27, crashed, killing all on board.

Sitka 43 continues to serve eight years after fatal crash
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Pamela Proteau, a 773d Logistics Readiness Squadron vehicle operator, picks up part of a wing using a 10k all-terrain forklift to remove wreckage debris at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Sept. 28, 2018. Proteau was part of a large wreckage disposal team whose mission was to remove debris from the fatal crash of the Sitka 43 C-17 Globemaster III that had been stored at JBER since 2010. After multiple shipments, the ‘Sitka 43’ wreckage is finding a new purpose at the Air Force Safety Center (AFSEC) Crash Lab at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.
Oct. 15, 2018 - More than eight years ago, a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III belonging to the 3rd Wing and operated jointly with the 176th Wing, lifted off the runway at what was then known as Elmendorf Air Force Base, to conduct practice for an upcoming airshow.

Royal Air Force Flight Lieutenant Pete Marshall, 47th Squadron RAF C-130J pilot, is in the Last Frontier for the first time, flying missions in Red Flag-Alaska 18-3 and summiting mountains in his down time.

Aug. 1, 2018 - The 3rd Wing is scheduled to host a change-of-command ceremony at Hangar 1 on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Aug. 6, 2018. U.S. Air Force Col. Christopher Niemi will transfer command of the wing to U.S. Air Force Col. Robert Davis.

July 24, 2018 - In contrast to the uniformity of the aircraft they maintain, crew chiefs are unique individuals, from various backgrounds, each contributing something different to the flying mission.

 The 3rd Operations Group provides premier combat-ready aerospace forces to warfighting commanders tasked to defend and protect U.S. interests in the Pacific region and around the world.  The group trains, mobilizes, and employs five squadrons comprised of C-17 Globemaster, C-12 Huron, E-3 Sentry, and F-22 Raptor aircraft, providing unmatched air dominance, global mobility, and command and control for Combatant Commanders. Additionally, the group sustains installation operations at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson for critical force-staging and throughput operations in support of worldwide contingencies.
