Medical personnel learn Tactical Combat Casualty Care

U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Demetris Johnson, a multi-service unit flight chief assigned to the 673d Inpatient Operations Squadron, instructs 673d Medical Group personnel to perform a needle decompression for a tension pneumothorax during a Tactical Combat Casualty Care course at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, July 12, 2018. This procedure is required when air gets into the chest cavity preventing the lung from expanding. The needle releases air, letting the lung expand and the patient breathe again.
