The 2017 Air Force Community Feedback Tool is available and ready to receive input to improve support services from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson personnel until Oct. 2.

“The 2017 CFT is a short, confidential web survey designed to help leaders improve your Air Force experience,” said Air Force Lt. Gen. Stayce Harris, Air Force assistant vice chief of staff and director of the Air Staff.

The survey allows Airmen, Airmen’s dependents and Air Force civilian employees to inform leaders of their needs and problems, pinpoint barriers and bridges to accessing resources, and rate how helpful the present resources are.

“The feedback tool also highlights resources that we might need to bring in additionally to help out families more than we already [do],” said Air Force Master Sgt. Steven Beck, JBER community support coordinator and resilience program manager. “As time changes, so do family needs.”

The last CFT was completed in 2013, and the plan is to do a comparative analysis to document trends, changes in the community, and see what’s been working out and what might need improvement.

It asks about problems within the past year, which resources were available to help, whether or not the individual was satisfied with the military and non-military support, and some background questions.

Clear and concise detailed explanations, whether good or bad, will help JBER leadership know where to fill in the gaps in any quality-of-life issues the installation has. Being able to pinpoint the installation’s strengths and weaknesses can help balance the attention of progress.

“A lot of times, people want instant action upon feedback, and that’s not the reality, so patience is going to be of upmost importance,” Beck said. “The tallies and responses from the feedback usually take about four months after the survey closes, which is Oct. 2.”

To keep the responses confidential, refrain from mentioning specific names of individuals, locations, or units. These details are not necessary, because the reports are prepared with demographic data like gender, pay grade and other general information instead.

The CFT is completely voluntary and there is no penalty or punishment if individuals do not participate, nor can anyone be penalized or rewarded for their responses. The only incentive to complete the survey is to improve the community.
