JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Timely access to care is vital to the readiness of military forces and caring for families.
A policy that went into effect Jan. 1, 2019, states the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Hospital will be open on Pacific Air Forces family days. Family days are commander-designated down days which often occur in conjunction with observed government holidays.
The 673d Medical Group at JBER is committed to ensuring patients can get the acute care they need, when they need it.
“Adjusting our hours is part of our commitment to provide timely access to care for all our patients,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Lee Williames, 673d MDG commander. “We value our patients and are actively engaged in continuing to increase access to care and enhance our mission to provide medically ready warfighters.”
Patients will now have limited access to the following services on family days:
· Acute primary care
· Specialty care
· Surgical care
· Laboratory services
· Pharmacy services (at the Medical Group only)
· Radiology services
