Chief Master Sergeant Michael J. Venning

Chief Master Sergeant Michael J. Venning is the Commandant, Elmendorf Professional Military Education Center, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. In this role, he leads a staff of 15 instructors and oversees the operations of both the Airman Leadership School and the Noncommissioned Officer Academy. The PME Center graduates over 650 students and enables the award of over 5,750 Community College of the Air Force credit hours per year. With curriculum provided by the Barnes Center for Enlisted Education, the PME Center builds enlisted supervision, communication, profession of arms, and leadership skills through quality education for selected Senior Airmen, Staff Sergeants, and Technical Sergeants, ensuring they are prepared for increased leadership responsibilities. Additionally, the diverse nature of the base facilitates attendance of U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Coast Guard students, along with Air Force Guard and Reserve, providing a true “Total Force” experience.

Chief Venning is from Melbourne, Australia. After moving to the United States in 1994, he entered the Air Force in May of 2000 and received his U.S. citizenship in 2005. He served 6 years as a power production specialist in a combat communications unit, with many temporary duties and deployments around the country and in the Middle East. Chief Venning retrained into the contracting career field in 2006 and spent 11 years in various NCOIC, squadron superintendent, and MAJCOM staff positions, as well as being warranted as a contracting officer. Before assuming his current position, Chief Venning was the 673d Contracting Squadron Superintendent.

Chief Venning has deployed four times in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and NEW DAWN.
