673rd LRS, 673 Air Base Wing mourn loss of Airman

Vehicle-related fatality on JBER

There was a vehicle-related incident at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson on Aug. 13, 2025, that resulted in a fatality. The incident is under investigation. The name of the deceased is being withheld until 24 hours after next-of-kin notifications are complete. Additional information will be released once it becomes available. JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska — Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson will host its annual holiday tree-lighting ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 5. The event starts at 4 p.m. with holiday crafts and hot chocolate at the Arctic Warrior Chapel. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. outside Building 1, followed by performances by the Orion Elementary School choir at 6 p.m. and tree lighting at 6:10 p.m. Afterwards, the community is invited to attend a magic show in the Frontier Theater starting at 6:30 p.m.

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska — Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Fire and Emergency Services will host a 9/11 memorial stair climb at the JBER fire training grounds, Sept. 14, 2024. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m. At 10 a.m., 60 individuals representing fire, explosive ordinance disposal, police and paramedics will don 60-pound gear and climb 110 flights of stairs to honor the memory of those who lost their lives on 9/11.
