Joint Deployment Readiness Exercise

Longshoremen load military vehicles and equipment containers belonging to U.S. Army Alaska during a joint readiness exercise (JRE) at the Port of Anchorage, Anchorage, Alaska, Aug. 22, 2019. During the JRE Airmen and Soldiers from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson worked with the Army Surface Deployment & Distribution Command’s 833d Transportation Battalion to move approximately 1450 vehicles and 440 containers of equipment from JBER to the Port of Anchorage. At the Port of Anchorage the vehicles and equipment were loaded onto National Defense Reserve Fleet vessels, the MV Cape Rise and MV Cape Hudson, and then ultimately transported to Camp Shelby, Miss. to support the 3500 Soldiers of the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, who are set to participate in exercise Arctic Anvil.
