ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- A bouquet of flowers was presented by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force members as they paid their respects to the Yukla 27 Memorial here Sept. 30. Yukla 27 was the callsign for Elmendorf's AWACS that crashed Sept. 22, 1995, less than a mile away from the runway. The JASDF E-767 AWACS crew is here to participate in Red Flag-Alaska 10-1.
