Muldoon and Post Road Gates will close Monday, July 1 for construction upgrade projects on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Construction and the closure of the Muldoon Gate is set to continue through September. This project widens Provider Drive to four lanes from the Muldoon Gate to Westover Avenue and installs a roundabout at the intersection of Provider Drive and Wilkins Avenue. Chugach Housing will be accessible via a temporary road.
The Post Road Gate is expected to be closed through July 7 for security upgrades. All POV traffic must use other gates and all commercial vehicles must enter and exit through the Richardson Gate.
These construction projects will bring the gate infrastructure into compliance with Department of Defense directives and the guidance of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force on improving installation perimeter security.

“The construction projects have been progressing as planned,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Patricia Csànk, commander of JBER and the 673d Air Base Wing. “We appreciate everyone’s patience during the construction which we know may be inconvenient to our community. We’re committed to getting these projects done in a safe and timely manner.”

JBER commuters are encouraged to use Government Hill and Richardson Gates. For outbound traffic only, the Arctic Valley Gate will be operational Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Construction at the Boniface Gate and the repaving of Provider Drive between Westover and Vandenberg avenues is expected to be completed by July 1.
